A young designer, textile thinker, and visionary whose work is rooted in consciousness, craftsmanship, and cultural dialogue. She holds a formal education in design from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology, where she built a strong foundation in textiles and material studies.
Through her professional experience in India’s textile and apparel sector, she developed a deep understanding of handcraft, traditional weaving techniques, surface detailing, and the emotional value embedded in fabric. Her exposure to the international fashion industry further strengthened her perspective, giving her the confidence to establish her own platform and contribute meaningfully to the evolving landscape of the fashion and textile industry.From the very beginning, sustainability was not a trend for her — it was a responsibility. Her interest in conscious fashion began during her academic years, where she studied textiles with a focus on material behavior, environmental impact, and circular systems. Care for the environment remains the central force behind her work. As a responsible human being, artist, and entrepreneur, she continuously works toward building systems that respect both nature and people.
Okesa is her dream translated into material form.
The name Okesa derives from Buddhist teachings, meaning “a sacred piece of cloth.” It represents more than fabric — it symbolizes intention, humility, and soulful living. The brand was born in February 2020 with a clear philosophy: to create meaningful, sustainable clothing rooted in purpose. Yet at that time, certain elements were still waiting to reveal themselves.
An unplanned move to Japan became the turning point — not only in her personal journey but in the evolution of Okesa itself. Immersed in Japan’s culture, craftsmanship, Buddhist influence, and the philosophy of wabi-sabi, she found a profound alignment with her own values. The Japanese approach to minimalism, precision, and respect for material deeply transformed her creative direction.
While exploring sustainable textile innovations in Japan, she encountered a unique, environmentally responsible textile technology that perfectly embodied Okesa’s philosophy. What began as exploration became integration. Working closely with this advanced fabric innovation, she successfully introduced and transitioned this novelty yarn and textile technology to India — becoming the first company to develop and work with this specialized material in the region.
Today, Okesa stands at the intersection of Indian craftsmanship and Japanese technological refinement. Handcrafted using Indian textile traditions while engineered with future-forward textile science, the brand represents a harmonious blend of cultural identity and innovation.
